Update on our "other" home

We have owned a piece of property for almost 3 years now that we are splitting with Jon's family and hope to one day build on. We thought that plan would happen sooner than later, but with the current housing market, it looks like it will probably be LATER! We are trying to stay patient with the plans and we have continued to make improvements on the property as well as the little "shop" that we lived in for 8 months while we tried to sell our house. The property is only about 10 minutes from our house and my horses still live there, so we visit it quite a few days per week. We also have much of our stuff stored there, so when I am looking for something like a book or a specific photo, I get to search two places! Someday my live won't feel like I reside in dual residences, but until then, it makes for lots of yard/field work! The photos you see are
Jon working on the box scraper smoothing the future house pad, the future house site and driveway, the septic leach lines, and the well being drilled.

Here Chick Chick

We officially became a "farm" this weekend when we acquired a motley crew of 5 chickens. We have 2 Aracanas, 1 Barded Rock, 1 unknown white and a cute black Silkie named Clementine. The kids are loving the girls and we are already appreciating the 6 eggs they've given to us. The dogs however, can't wait to get a taste of them so we have to be vigilant in keeping them separated. I can't wait until we get our garden going.....I'll keep you posted.

You just have to experience it to understand it

This just makes me laugh

This photo of my nephew Carter was taken at our recent trip to Sand Mountain. He is almost two and this view reminds me of Jack from Jack in the Box. He was waiting for a ride.

Happy 34th Birthday Jon/Daddy

Well, having a birthday on a Monday along with Rebecca working as snack parent in Ben's class, meeting in the afternoon with the preschool teacher and Ben's baseball practice in the late afternoon-this is what Jon's family birthday celebration looked like. BBQ hamburgers, watermelon and yellow cake with sprinkles done by Emma. Jon liked this picture the best. It actually looks like many of our family dinners. Someday we won't all be home at the same time, so I'm trying to count it as a blessing as our life is still somewhat unscheduled in the evenings. I know high school sports will change all that but in the meantime......

We're BACK!!!!!

O.K., so I know it's been 6 months since I last posted, but we've moved back to our house, had soccer season, Christmas, family vacation and now baseball season. Needless to say, I've been a bit behind on posting. I have been inspired recently by my longtime high school girlfriends who seem to have enough time in their day to post on their blog.

Fall is Here

I can tell Fall has arrived because I am busier than ever and haven't found the time to do the things I started this summer and had all intention of continuing. The kids are in soccer, are back to school and life has a rhythm to it again. Every day they ask, "what day is today and what are we doing after school?" Sometimes I get frustrated and want them to be content just to come home and play, but then I realize, kid's don't walk around with calendars or PDA's like we adults do and defining for them what the day holds is just enough information to give them direction and a sense of routine. Check out a few photos from the recent weeks in our life doing the things that define our life and what is important to us......family!
